Brewers Offense Comes Alive Late in Brewers 7-0 Win

The Brewers have now won four out of their last five games after a 7-0 win over the Nationals on Friday night.

After both teams went scoreless in the first five innings, Rowdy Tellez broke open the scoring with a two-run home run to right field in the 6th inning. It was Rowdy’s 9th home run of the season.

The 7th inning was an inning filled with a couple of rarities. In the top of the 7th inning, the Nationals nearly completed an inside the park home run, but Lane Thomas was thrown out at the plate trying to stretch the triple. It was a magnificent relay from Renfroe to Wong to Narvaez. In the bottom of the 7th inning, the Nationals completed their second triple play in their history, erasing a Brewers rally with nobody out.

The offense fully came alive in the 8th inning for the Brewers. The Brewers loaded the bases with nobody out and scored five runs. Hunter Renfroe hit a two-run single and Tyrone Taylor hit a three-run home run to make it 7-0 Brewers. It was Tyrone’s second home run of the season.

Eric Lauer dominated for the Brewers on the mound. He went 7 innings on just 83 pitches, allowing five hits and no runs. He now sits with a 2.16 ERA on the season.

The Brewers slammed the door in the 8th and 9th inning. Devin Williams threw a scoreless 8th inning with three strikeouts. Aaron Ashby pitched a scoreless 9th inning.

The Brewers improved to 25-14 on the season. The Brewers will go for the series win on Saturday night at AmFam Field with the game starting at 6:10pm.
