Slain rapper Nipsey Hussle will reportedly be memorialized at the Staples Center, TMZ has learned.
On Saturday (April 6), insiders with direct knowledge of the upcoming ceremony told the outlet a memorial service will be held in Hussle's hometown of Los Angeles at the city's famous sports and entertainment venue next week. TMZ states the event was established after a meeting between Staples Center execs and the late emcee's family. The Los Angeles Police Department will also be hired to provide security at the 2,100-seat center for the event.
The massive venue also held Michael Jackson’s memorial service in 2009.
Tickets for Hussle's memorial will be sold via an undisclosed website.
Hussle's upcoming memorial, slated for Thursday (April 11), comes more than a week after the lyricist was gunned down outside his clothing store on Sunday (April 1) at age 33. He was said to have been helping an old friend who had just been released from prison when alleged murder suspect Eric Holder opened fire, injuring two men and causing Hussle's death.
After a two-day, city-wide manhunt, Holder was caught and charged with Hussle's killing on Tuesday (April 2). The 29-year-old, who faces life behind bars, pleaded not guilty to the murder in court on Thursday (April 4). He has since agreed to delay the next court proceeding until May 10. Holder's bail has since been set at $5 million.
