John McCain On Trump's Transgender Military Policy

Republican Senator John McCain is weighing in on President Trump's announcement regarding transgender people in the military.  McCain is the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.  Yesterday President Trump announced via Twitter that transgender people will no longer be allowed to serve in the armed forces.

McCain says President Trump's statement is unclear because "The Department of Defense has already decided to allow currently serving transgender individuals to stay in the military."  He also says there is no reason to force these individuals to stop serving in the military.  Senator McCain believes the president's tweet is "yet another example of why major policy announcements should not be made via Twitter."  He says that a decision on this policy shouldn't be made until a study is conducted and it is reviewed by the Secretary of Defense, the military's leadership and the Congress.
